Who we are

Uptown Cheesesteak Company started with a food truck, a flat top grill, and an obsession with making the kind of food we actually wanted to eat. What began in 2019 as a small local concept quickly grew into one of downtown Kingsport’s favorite spots for cheesesteaks, smashburgers, loaded fries, poutine, craft beer, and late-night comfort food with personality.

We’re not a chain. We’re not corporate. We’re not trying to be polished into something generic.

Uptown is loud music, hot grills, cold beer, and food made by people who genuinely care about what hits your table.

Our cheesesteaks are built with thinly sliced steak, fresh grilled toppings, and real attention to detail. Our smashburgers have become local favorites. Our poutines and loaded fries are unapologetically over the top. And our rotating craft beer selection — especially hard-to-find releases and local favorites — has helped turn Uptown into more than just a sandwich shop.

It’s a vibe.

Inside, you’ll find a place inspired as much by punk rock, synthwave aesthetics, and underground food culture as it is by classic neighborhood sandwich shops. We wanted something that felt authentic to us — not another copy-and-paste restaurant.

Whether you’ve been with us since the food truck days at Laurel Marina or you’re just discovering us in downtown Kingsport, we appreciate every single person who walks through our doors.

This place was built by community support, long nights, trial and error, and a refusal to do things halfway.

So grab a cheesesteak. Try the poutine. Have a beer. Stay awhile.
